FURY v USYK

The wait is over and we’re just days away from one of the most significant and anticipated fights in boxing history.  Without doubt it is one of the biggest sporting events in a generation. Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk collide for the undisputed world heavyweight championship on Saturday May 18

May 18th will be a historic day not only in boxing, but in sport as a whole as Oleksandr Usyk will meet Tyson Fury for the Undisputed Heavyweight world championships.

The stage is set, and the world of boxing is ready to crown it’s first undisputed champion since the great Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in 1999.

Fury will be looking to significantly improve on his lacklustre performance against Francis Ngannou last year, which saw him hit the canvas for the first time since his trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder.

Usyk, despite coming off a successful defense of his world titles against ‘Dynamite’ Daniel Dubois, was undoubtedly questioned in the bout, after being dropped by a thunderous punch by Dubois which the referee deemed to be a low blow, but it was extremely tight and seemed to be just on the belt-line.

Heavyweight boxing boasts a spotlight and an unwavering fascination like little else in the sport, the spectacle of two not-so-average-sized men teetering on the edge of one-punch devastation remaining undefeated theatre. That neither Fury nor Usyk are mere one-punch merchants, though, has only heightened said fascination, the collision of two slick and calculated technicians clouding any hope of forecasting an outcome with conviction.
